Mason has been my hometown for 23 years. Animals in general have always been my passion. Grooming dogs was a fun little hobby of mine until I realized it could also be a career. My business (Amanda’s Grooming) has flourished in the few years since I opened my doors. I could not be busier or happier.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
We are a hard-working, loving, very close-knit family of 6, plus spouses and children which makes it 13 people total (2 are still on the way)! We all vacation together and spend weekends at our cottage in northern MI. We all talk daily. We all live in the Mason but one sister lives in Downtown Detroit.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
A pet groomer – working primarily with dogs – using my creativity to make dogs beautiful.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Los Tres Amigos, City Limits, Jersey Giant, and The Vault.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Since I was 11 years old.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Leon Clark and Georgie Lawrence, I love both of them so much. They are great people!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Ireland.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Dirty Dancing, cheesy chick flicks, anything comedy. My favorite TV show is Friends.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Work hard, and love what you do!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Skydiving.
Q: Who is your “go-to” band when you can’t decide what music you want to hear?
Kenny Chesney.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Depot.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
My friends from Florida, because I miss them and I would take them to the Vault Deli.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love all of the things they host downtown, movies nights, live music, farmers markets.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Expanding my business, possibly more locations, maybe a mobile grooming unit.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I have my personal training certificate.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Colorado and Seattle. It’s a tie!

April, Thanksgiving, April 1st (my birthday).

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My parents, siblings, and boyfriend.

Tropical, beachy smells.
