Scott Wriggelsworth

I was born and raised in good ole Holt, and I graduated from Holt High School in 1988. I earned my undergraduate degree in Marketing from MSU in 1992, which was the same year I graduated from the Police Academy at Lansing Community College. I worked for the East Lansing Police Department from 1994  to 2016 and have been with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department since 2017, having been elected Sheriff in 2016.  I enjoy playing sports, watching sports on TV, and enjoying physical fitness.

My wife is Mary Jo, and I have one son, Jake (18), and three stepdaughters, Makenna (20), Hailey (17), and Charlotte (16).

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m in my 29th year in law enforcement. Still love what I do and it has never been more challenging. We have a lot of exciting things happening at the Sheriff’s Office, most important are the people, but we are also looking to move into the new Ingham County Justice Complex by the end of 2022. This will end up being a 5-year-long project from start to finish that will really bring modernization, and functionality, and allow us to better serve the community we swear to protect and serve.

A Few Good Men, Saving Private Ryan, NYPD Blue, Breaking Bad, This is Us.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
I have never liked the phrase “It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so pace yourself.” I think people should sprint each and every day and get the most out of every day. As you age your sprint may become slower, but you should still sprint with everything you do.

My FBI National Academy Roommate Scott Fraser from Canada. The funniest person I have ever met in my life. The venue wouldn’t matter.
